Device Assembly

Work on a clean, soft surface and wear clean gloves. Keep the display film on until the last possible moment.

Battery holder

1. Put about 2 cm of heat-shrink tubing over each wire.
2. Solder red to red and black to black.
3. Move the tubing over the joints and shrink it.
4. Check that no bare wire or solder is visible.
5. Set the switch to ON.
6. Add the double-sided adhesive pad.

Some production holders have the switch cut off after it is set to ON. Only do this when the current hardware version calls for it.

Connect the parts

1. Prepare the display and PCB.
2. Plug in the battery holder and display cable.
3. Fit the USB-C support, spacers, and battery compartment.
4. Keep cables away from the frame clips and backplane edges.

Add the passepartout

1. Clean the display edges and passepartout.
2. Add two strips of red tape to the top and bottom of the PCB.
3. Use the alignment lines on the display to center the passepartout.
4. Press only on the taped areas.

Close the frame

1. Take the frame apart and clean both sides of the glass.
2. Put in the glass.
3. Add the display, PCB, and passepartout as one module.
4. Add the spacers.
5. Put on the backplane without trapping a cable.
6. Close all spring clips or turn buttons. They should sit straight.
7. Add the battery cover.

Before moving on, check the front for dust, fingerprints, uneven borders, or visible tape. Nothing inside the frame should move when you gently turn it over.
